Pastor Anthony Townsend

Pastor Anthony was born and raised in a Christian home in Chicago IL. He is the proud son of Pastor Rev. Dr. James and Dr. Limmie Townsend. At a young age pastor Anthony would visit his grandfather (pastor Sampson Townsend Sr.) church in the summer. 

It was during those visits he would feel the call to serve God. However, he did not quite know how to serve or what to do with those feelings at that age. He had so much joy in the church and helping his grandfather put the bibles in the pews. He always said this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, serve God! He was often mesmerized by the preaching power of his grandfather.

November 16, 2003, pastor Anthony received his license to preach God’s Word. July 6, 2011, he received his Certificate of Ordination. Pastor Anthony holds a communication degree and is continuing his education in management. 

Pastor Anthony served as Youth pastor for 4 years at Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Maywood IL. Under the great leadership of pastor Marvin E. Wiley. He also served as the noonday bible study for 6 years.

Pastor Anthony is known for his practical and dynamic teaching style, he helps people understand and apply the timeless truths of God’s Word to their everyday lives. He exhibits a passion for the presence of the Holy Spirit through worship and the Word. He desires to create an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can move and change lives.

In January 2023, Reverend Anthony Townsend answered the called from God to be the Senior Pastor of the Refreshing Spring M.B. Church.
